The Time is Right:
MP Dan Albas' Private Members Bill C-311 is now law. This was a huge step forward for our campaign and our thanks goes out to all the wine lovers that weighed in and helped make it happen.
Unfortunately, we're not done yet.
C-311 provides a personal exemption within the limits and regulations set by the provinces. It is now up to wine lovers to make sure their province allows reasonable limits and consumer/winery friendly regulations.
It is essential that you contact your MLA/MPP/MNA. Let them know you expect your province to live up to the intent of C-311 and allow you to both bring wine home, join wine clubs and order directly from wineries over the internet. i.e. Now is the time to listen to voters and let Canadians buy more Canadian wine!
With your help, FreeMyGrapes, along with the wineries' representative, the Canadian Vintners Association, we will free Canadian grapes!
To make Bill C-311 useful,
we must tell our provincial
MLA/MPP/MNAs to put in place
reasonable limits and regulations:
Help us tell the provincial governments they need to live up to the intention of C-311 and allow you to both bring wine home and order directly from wineries over the internet.
NOTE: British Columbia and Manitoba allow inter-provincial wine imports (BC allows only 100% Canadian from producing province). Although the AGLC says otherwise, most experts feel Alberta is also open.
1. Write/Email your MLA/MPP/MNA:
1st. Send your provincial representative a letter.

2nd. Tell Your Friends “Write your provincial MLA/MPP/MNA"
3rd. If your elected official responds, please let us know what they said.
2) Sign our Petition
We're looking into whether provincial petitions are doable given our limited resources. Stay tuned.....
Here is asample letter/email. Just add the date; politician's name at the top; your province in the text; and your name and address at the bottom of the page. (How to find the contact info for your provincial politician is found below)

Tip 1: Make it yours. It makes a difference if you add some personal comments.
Tip 2: A mailed letter will have the most impact. You can also send the letter by email.
